South Wing is just 5 miles north of Crieff, which is home to a wide range of specialist shops. There is also a wide selection of restaurants catering for all tastes and budgets. There is a Drovers’ Exhibition, the Caithness Glass factory (where you can see paper-weights being made and even make your own) and nearby Drummond Castle Gardens, which was a location for the film Rob Roy. The Ceramic Experience gives you the opportunity to choose and paint your own pottery – and enjoy a tasty snack. Crieff Highland Gathering in August is the highlight of the local calendar. Families will especially enjoy a visit to MacRosty Park which has play equipment for children of all abilities.

A trip to the monthly Crieff and Strathearn Country Market will introduce you to local crafts and produce, as well as cooking demonstrations which produce yummy tasters for you to try. Throughout the year there are also various markets in nearby Perth and Aberfeldy. Comrie Croft is only 15 minutes away and offers great biking opportunities for all the family with bikes for hire.

Our location also gives us easy access to the majority of Perthshire and its wonderful scenery. The area is very popular with walkers. In fact, one of General Wade’s roads passes right behind the inn; we have maps available to help you plan your route. The very popular Crieff And Strathearn Drovers’ Tryst Walking Festival has now moved to May and offers a great variety of walks and events for visitors of all abilities.

Perthshire is also popular with Scotch Whisky fans. One of the oldest distilleries in Scotland is at nearby Glenturret while the smallest is at Edradour near Pitlochry. Also in Pitlochry is the new Pitlochry Dam Visitor Centre and, of course, Pitlochry Theatre. Fishing is very popular here too on the many rivers, lochs and fisheries. If you visit in autumn you can see a spectacular Salmon Leap at Buchanty Spout just along the road.

If you fancy a trip a bit further afield, Oban, Fort William, Inverness, Edinburgh, Glasgow, the Trossachs and the Kingdom of Fife are all within reach and all well worth a visit.

There are lots of golf courses within easy reach of South Wing. The nearest 18-hole courses are Crieff, Pitlochry, Dunblane, Dunkeld and Auchterarder.
There are also several, very interesting, 9-hole courses at Comrie, St Fillans, Crieff and Muthill. Gleneagles, home to the Ryder and Solheim Cups, is close by and St Andrews, the home of golf, is easily accessible. Your hosts are keen golfers and would be delighted to help you book tee-times.

We have our own Par three Nine Hole course here at Foulford which is free to our guests in South Wing and we have clubs available. Golfers of all abilities will appreciate the stunning scenery of this unique and well-maintained course.
